Bija
Bija
बीज, bīja"seed"
Bija is the quintessence of mantra, all its potential, enclosed in the seed`s syllable. Bija, like a small atom, can produce an explosion, it can have tremendous destructive and creative power. Usually bija mantras consist of one syllable and are important enough, if not the main, component of tantric mantras. The whole tantra is a secret science, it ciphers in the bija-mantras the various forces that Guru opens to the disciple during the transmissions. In Nathas' Tradition, the main bija-mantra is the mantra of Gorakshanath, through which work all other Nathas' mantras, composed in the Shabari language.
