Brahma-Samhita

ब्रह्मसंहिता, brahmasaṃhitā

"Song of Brahma"

"Brahma-samhita" is one of the most important scriptures of Gaudiya Vaishnavism, which is attributed to the Agamas (Pancharatra). "Brahma-samhita" contains the prayers of the creator of this universe, Brahma, to Krishna, uttered by Brahma at the very beginning of creation. For many centuries the text of "Brahma-samhita" was considered lost. At the beginning of the 16th century, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (1486-1534), who was making a pilgrimage in South India, discovered 62 slokas of the fifth chapter of "Brahma-samhita" in the temple of Adi-Keshava.

"Brahma-samhita" not only reveals the most important provisions of the Vaishnava philosophy, but also contains in a concise form the entire siddhanta of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. In this text, Krishna is described as the source of all creation, the cause of causes, the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
