Brahma-Samhita

ब्रह्मसंहिता, brahmasaṃhitā

"Song of Brahma"

"Brahma-samhita" is one of the most important scriptures of Gaudiya Vaishnavism, which is attributed to the Agamas (Pancharatra). The Brahma Samhita contains the prayers of the creator of this universe, Brahma, to Krishna, uttered by Brahma at the very beginning of creation. For many centuries the text of the Brahma Samhita was considered lost. At the beginning of the 16th century, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (1486-1534), who was making a pilgrimage in South India, discovered 62 slokas of the fifth chapter of the Brahma-samhita in the temple of Adi-Keshava.

Brahma-samhita not only reveals the most important provisions of the Vaishnava philosophy, but also contains in a concise form the entire siddhanta of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. In this text, Krishna is described as the source of all creation, the cause of causes, the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
