One of the main mantras (maha-mantra) of Shaivism, also known as panchakshara-mantra (five-syllable).

It is located in the very “core” of Vedas, in the anthem “Shatarudriya” (“Shri Rudram-chamakam”) of “Krishna Yajurveda”.
