Nandinatha
Nandinatha
नन्दिनाथ, nandinātha
The Maharishi Nandinatha is the first known Guru of Shaiva-siddhanta (Nandinatha Sampradaya). It is believed that Nandinatha came from Kashmir to Kailash (about 250 BC), from where his parampara started. Among his disciples is the great siddha Tirumular, whose famous work "Tirumantiram" lists the other seven famous disciples of Nandinatha: Patanjali, Shivayogamuni, Sanakar, Vyaghrapada, Sanatkumara, Sanantanar.
Only one work of Nandinatha has come down to our time – “Nandikeśvara Kāśikā”, twenty-four verses in which he laid out his teaching.
