Smriti

"remembrance", "reflection", "ability to memorize"

Sacred texts of the Vedic tradition, next in importance after the Vedas and Upanishads. In addition, smriti can mean ancient books containing memories, records of lived experience.

There are many ways for classifying the smriti scriptures. As a rule,  it is customary to refer to  smriti: dharmashastras, agamas, itihasas, puranas, vedanga.
