Hri
Hri
ह्री, hrī"conscience"
A feeling of shame and remorse when committing any wrong act, the slightest deviation from the path of nobility, morality and spirituality, indulging in any bad thoughts, desires or feelings, uttering any offensive, evil, false or indecent words. This implies cultivating the ability to steadfastly resist any harmful influences affecting a person.

Hri is important for a student when he, for example, out of ignorance commits certain insults. Many people believe that Gurus and Deities are kind and forgive everything. This may be true, but by committing insults we create karma for ourselves, which moves us away from the higher state. Over time, if this is not corrected properly, karma can manifest itself in such a way that our discipleship gradually ceases to be such. Therefore, the disciple should understand that for his pure relationship with the Guru, following this precept is necessary.
