Upapuranas

उपपुराण

(Sanskrit - "minor or secondary puranas").

Puranic texts (in Sanskrit and other Indian languages), based on the authority of the main Puranas. Are mainly a compilation of the latter with the addition of legends and myths not included in the main Puranas. Contain biographies of the great saints.

It is believed that there are in total 18 Upapuranas. Their lists, for the most part, do not coincide with each other.
