Chidakasha

Chidakasha

चिदाकाश, cidākāśa

Space of consciousness. The term consists of two words: "chit" – perceive, consciousness, spirit, thought; "akasha" – space, sky.

Chidakasha is the space we perceive when we close our eyes. Associated with the upper chakras, especially the ajna.

All gross and subtle processes of consciousness take place here. And it is also the area of dissolution of chitta, the cessation of activity that is the goal of yoga – chitta-vritti-nirodha. When identified with chidakasha, the sadhaka's mind is reduced to its essence, which is achieved by internal practices – raja-yoga:

With this practice, yogi overcomes good, evil, and indifference and being free from all states, dissolves in chidakasha – the space of consciousness.
