Mitahara

Mitahara

मिताहार, mitāhāra

mita — moderate, measured, limited, adjustable
āhāra — taking food, nutrition, eating

Mitahara is strict dietary regulations.

The practitioner must always remember that food is intended to maintain and nourish the body, and not to delight the taste, pleasure in eating and gratification of desires. He should form the habit of eating proper food in a proper quantity and at the proper time, rather than indulge the demands of the mind and taste.

Yogi must adhere to vegetarianism, etc., except for those practices when their violation is used for ritual purposes.
