Rich

ऋच्, ṛc

[ṛc "rich" can become ṛk "rik" or ṛg "rig" in certain cases; pl. number ṛcas]

Literally, "rich" is translated as "praise". This is a sacred verse read to the glory of the deity, it is also a sacred text.

Rich is the verse in the suktas (hymns) of the Rig Veda, the earliest of the Vedas. Usually rich consists of three or four padas (lines), the most commonly used sizes (chandas) are gayatri, anushtubh, trishtubh, and jagati.
