Yajna

Yajna, Yagya

These are very broad concepts, the most common meaning of which is the fiery sacrifice. These rituals originated from Vedism. They are performed for the purpose of satisfying the deities, and also for the fulfillment of certain desires. The main element of yajna is the sacrificial fire, where ghee poured out with the simultaneous recitation of mantras, besides this, the hymns and names of deities are sung, various gifts are offered. In times after Vedas, yajnas, in which ghee, fruits, flowers and clothing are offered, are called yaga, homa or havan.
