Biography of a Russian Yogi
Adhidaivika
Adhidaivika
आधिदैविक, ādhidaivika
Something related to supernatural forces, deities, spirits.
One of the three categories of mundane suffering (duhkha). It includes obstacles, calamities and suffering from deities or spirits, as well as from planets (grahas) or natural phenomena (lightning, flood, earthquake, drought, etc.). To prevent suffering of this kind, it is usually recommended to pacify the deities or grahas (santi-puja), or, if the harm is caused by a lower-level being, to perform protective rituals, to recite kavachas.
The other two categories of suffering are adhyatmika and adhibhautika.
