Prana
Prana
प्राण, prāṇa
Prana is the life force or vital principle. The word is originated from Sanskrit roots pṛ and it forms pṛṇāti, piparti – fill, nourish, saturate, also from the root an – breathe. In the human body prana moves as 5 primary flows of life, known as vayu – prana, apana, viana, udana and samana. Sometimes prana symbolizes the energy or force, that animates the cosmos.
In the abstract meaning prana symbolizes Brahman, Supreme; spanda, pulsation; bala (power, force); ojas, energy.
