Arunadhati

अरुन्धती, arundhatī

The star constellation of Ursa Major (Great Bear), which is not visible to the naked eye. As a rule, a large star nearby is taken for it, then it is left and a smaller one is taken for Arundhati, etc., until a genuine one is found.

Arundhati-nyaya – a method in Indian philosophy leading from gross to subtle, when a person is encouraged to believe in the lower forms of worship with the help of agamas and tantras, then attracted to the method of bhakti or dualistic religion of puranas, then again to severe smritis and finally to non-dualistic (advaita) vedanta of upanishads and ajativada.
