Bhuvaneshvari
Bhuvaneshvari
भुवनेश्वरी, bhuvaneśvarī“the World Mistress”
A tantric goddess who is a member of the group of ten Mahavidyas (Dasha-mahavidya). It symbolizes the space of consciousness (chit-akasha). According to “Rudrayamala Tantra”, she is identified with 5 primary elements (pancha-mahabhutas). Being the Mother of the entire manifested Universe, she is depicted as an eternally young queen sitting on a lotus.
She has four hands, with her two hands she holds a cattle prod and a noose – symbols of control, and with the other two she grants blessing and the elimination of all fears. Devi rewards his worshippers with wealth, prosperity, sustainability and success in all good enterprises. As a rule, Bhuvaneshwari’s benevolent nature is expressed in the symbolism of red color, which may mean the process of creation, also this is the color of rajas.
In the myth about the Goddess origin it is said that she permeates the entire Universe (all three worlds), which flows from her, is preserved by her and subsequently dissolves in her. Some myths emphasize the close connection of Bhuvaneshwari with another Devi form – Tripurasundari. Bija-mantra of the Goddess is ह्रिं, hriṃ – it is the Goddess herself in her essence.
