Chira-diksha

Chira-diksha

This initiation is passed on from Guru, who is called Chira Guru. Chira diksha is performed by cutting through the center of the ears and placing kundalas (earrings) at the place of the cut. This way yogi gets rid of sins and it becomes easier for him to control sexual energy, prana, and feelings such as anger, envy, greed, pride, selfishness, etc.

This third "chira diksha" is transmitted to those who have decided to remain forever on the path of yoga, to those who are 100% devoted to the Nath Tradition. In this diksha, Guru cuts the ear flaps of the disciple, and first inserts special sticks called yoga-danda. During healing, Guru inserts kundalas, which symbolize Prakasha and Vimarsha, the sun and the moon in the body. According to "Siddha-siddhanta_paddhati", the entire universe was created by the union of Shiva and Shakti, and thus the eternal body of Shiva was formed, in which numerous bodies of people appeared. These bodies completely copy everything that Shiva’s body is. The rings inside the yogi’s body are precisely a symbol of a return to that identity with the Universe and the integration with "samarasya" of everything that is in it. Accordingly, nath-darshani is Shiva-svarupa (like Shiva). Chira-diksha is a symbol of one who has established himself on the path of traditional yoga, and although such an adept in relation to those who are lower in initiation should be considered as a Guru, of course, this does not mean that he should relax and do nothing. Yoga-sadhana doesn’t end here, Guru can convey different types of sadhana, which are more complex, requiring a competent approach and great dedication.
