Antriya-khechari

Antriya-khechari

Antriya-khechari is an essential part of the practice known in hatha-yoga and tantra as khechari-mudra. Antria comes from Skt. "antra" (अन्त्र) – "internal", that is, it is internal khechari.

Antriya-khechari is associated with such a state of consciousness, when a sadhaka continuously perceives all changes (movements) in the space of his mind, without being attached to them. Many tantric lineages, especially Kashmiri Shaivism, use this method. This state is the goal of physical practice of khechari with the movement of the tip of the tongue beyond the palate and further up into the nasal cavity.
