Samadhi
Samadhi
समाधि, samādhiachieving one's true "Self", a state of wholeness, full realization.
A state of deep trance, when the boundaries between the object, the subject and their sambandhana (relationship) disappear. There are many varieties of this state:
- Savikalpa-samadhi
- Nirvikalpa-samadhi
- Dhyana-yoga samadhi
- Laya-yoga samadhi
- Nada-yoga samadhi
- Raja-yoga_samadhi
- Rasananda-samadhi
- Bhakti-yoga_samadhi
- Mahabhava-samadhi
- Jada-samadhi
and others.
This is also the name of the burial place of a yogi, sannyasi or saint.
According to Indian custom, the bodies of those who have accepted sannyasa are not burned after death, but buried. The bodies of yogis are placed in the ground in a sitting position, with their feet in the lotus posture. These burials then become places of pilgrimage and veneration. In front of them, like in front of murti, nadi-puja or arati is performed.
