Satya-yuga

the epoch of righteousness, the "golden era"

Satya-yuga or Krita-yuga is the first of the four yugas in the time cycle according to the Vedas. The period of truth and purity. The duration of the satya-yuga is 1,728,000 years. During this period, people are endowed with such qualities as asceticism, purity, mercy and truthfulness. The canonical texts describe that in this era people were rich spiritually, and could meditate for tens of thousands of years.
